Generators:
The average homeowner doesn't care about "kilowatts" or "transfer switches."
They want fresh food in the refrigerator, cool air blowing from the A/C, and
their lights shining bright regardless of heat waves or powerful storms.
Simply put, they want life without the inconvenience of power outages.
When the main power goes out, a back-up generator system provides fully
automatic power to the essential circuits in your home. Whether you're
home or away, you can feel safe knowing the power in your home is protected.

Each home backup power system includes a generator unit and a transfer
switch. The transfer switch, which is basically the brains behind the
generator,
continually monitors the power to your home. Within seconds of any
outage, the transfer switch automatically transfers power supply to the
generator. The generator, which runs off the natural gas feed to your
home, has a continual supply of fuel for as long as the generator is running,
providing uninterrupted power during the outage. When power to your home is restored, the transfer switch
automatically shuts down the generator. It's that simple! The
homeowner doesn't even need to be home for the system to work!
What generator brands do you install?
We primarily use the company
Winco. With over 80 years in the
industry, Winco
provides some of the highest quality and most dependable generators on the
market. Some customers, however, call with a brand already in mind they
want to use and we have no problem accommodating them. In addition to
being a local full-service dealer for
Kohler generators, we have experience
installing and maintaining all major brands in the market.
How big of a generator do I need?
There is a wide range of generator sizes that can accommodate the needs of any
homeowner. The best way to start is to ask yourself, "What circuits in my
home do I need covered by the generator?" From there, take a look at our
sizing chart and
narrow down which model will work best for you. We also provide free
in-home estimates to help customers find the perfect balance between power
output, generator size, and price.
Do the generators need to be maintained?:
One of the major questions homeowners ask before installing a generator is,
"What do I have to do to keep the generator running properly?" The simple
answer: Almost nothing! The generators have automatic exercise
clocks and will run for about 15 minutes once per week. Once per year,
usually in the spring, we will come out and perform an annual maintenance on the
generators. The maintenance includes changing the oil and routine
preventative care for the engine. Like taking care of a car, the little
things go a long way towards extending the life of your generator and reducing
the chance for more serious problems down the road.
